Kikuye Kadahiro

Kikuye Nora Kadahiro, 92, of Kona died Oct. 7, 2016. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she was a baker.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 29 at Kona Hongwangi Mission with a noon service.

Evan Manoha

Evan Kaponomaikalani Manoha, 18, of Naalehu died Oct. 5, 2016, in Walla Walla, Wash. Born in Kealakekua, he was a student at Walla Walla Community College and a member of the American Cowboy’s Team Roping and Riding Association.

Visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at at Ka’u District Gym at Ka’u High School, with service to follow. Ashes will be scattered at a later date.

He is survived by parents, Jim Manoha (Johna Lyman) of Naalehu; Johnnette Manoha of Kailua-Kona; sisters Sherise Onaka of Monterey Calif., Alyssa Manoha (CJ Cacho) and Nohea Manoha (Francis Blas III) both of Naalehu; grandmothers, Carol Manoha of Bellevue Wash., Lavender Meno of South Kona; one nephew, numerous aunts and uncles, hanai grandparents, Wally and Maryjane Andrade; hanai parents, Les and Zenaida Andrade, Tracy Benevides, Daryl and Gennifer Shibuya; numerous cousins and hanai siblings.

John Toulze Jr.

John Alexis August Toulze Jr., 75, of Kealakekua died Oct. 2, 2016, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born March 21, 1941, in San Francisco, he was a supervisor for a coin minting assay office and an Army veteran.

Final services were held on Oct. 21 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Sonoma, Calif.

He is survived by companion, Carol Kapuakela of Kealakekua; sons, Jeffrey (Sylvia) Toulze, John (Claudia) Toulze, and Justin Toulze, all of California; daughters, Jennifer (Clinton) Honour of Captain Cook, Jessica Vincent of California, Kasey Toulze of Maui; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Drew Taylor

Drew J.M. Taylor, 61, of Waimea died Oct. 10, 2016. Born Nov. 26, 1954, in Honolulu, he was a retired auto mechanic for Auto Body Hawaii.

Sharon Lorch

Sharon Marie Jah Lorch, 75, died Oct. 3, 2016. Born Oct. 1, 1941, in San Francisco, she was a teacher at Honokaa Elementary School, played clarinet in the former Hamakua Band and the Hawaii County Band and was a master gardener.

A private memorial will be held next summer. Donations may be made in Sharon’s name to the Honokaa High and Intermediate music program.

Survived by son, Buddy (Lina) Jah of Henderson, Nev.; daughter, Ami Jah of Oakland, Calif.; stepson, Kim (Diana) Lorch of Las Vegas; stepdaughters, Robin Racoma of Hilo, Wendy (Rick) Turk of Eureka, Calif., Kerry Lorch of Redwood City, Calif.; brother, Gerry (Nam) Speagle of Hercules, Calif., six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Mitsuo Miyashiro

Mitsuo “Mits” Miyashiro, 88, of Pepeekeo died Oct. 9, 2016, at his home. Born Oct. 11, 1927, in Honohina, he was retired from the former Hakalau Sugar Co.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by sons, Clayton Miyashiro, Byron Miyashiro, Craig (Ruth) Miyashiro, Randal Miyashiro, all of Pepeekeo, Tracy (Laura Tobosa) Miyashiro of Hilo, Darrell (Yvette Hata) Miyashiro of Kurtistown; sister, Yoneko Yagi of Torrance, Calif.; a grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.

Emily Rhodes

Emily Borero Rhodes, 79, of Pepeekeo died Sept. 4, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 28, 1937, in Hilo, she was a retired bartendress and worked for numerous bars in Hilo and Honolulu.

Private services will be held. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Herbert Flores Jr., Joseph Flores Sr., both of Hilo; sisters, Rose Salas of Honolulu, Helen Spurell of Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ora Lee Wells, 84, of Paauilo died Oct. 13, 2016, at home. Born on April 9, 1932, in Butte, Montana, she was a devoted Ephraimite.

She is survived by sons, Michael (Diane) Wells and Martin (Tracy) Wells of Honokaa; daughters, Kima (Bruce) Brown of Kurtistown, Scarlet (Ron) Nutt of Paauilo, Lara Wells of Hilo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Clara Tokunaga

Clara Misae Tokunaga, 100, of Kealakekua died Oct. 1, 2016, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born March 4, 1916, in Waiohinu, she was a retired salesclerk for Ben Franklin.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Stanley (Margaret) Tokunaga of Kailua-Kona, Lawrence (Melody) Tokunaga of Huntington Beach, Calif., Allen Tokunaga of Kealakekua; daughter, Carol Kawachi of Kealakekua; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
